The Fred Spa Massage Therapist Job Description
Position Summary
The Fred's Spa Massage Therapist will perform therapeutic massages of soft tissues and joints. May assist in the assessment of range of motion and muscle strength, or propose client therapy plans.
Essential Job Functions

Massage and knead muscles and soft tissues of the body to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance.

Administer therapy treatments to clients using hands or physical treatment aids.

Confer with clients about their medical histories and problems with stress or pain to determine how massage will be most helpful.

Interview customers to gather medical information.

Apply finger and hand pressure to specific points of the body.

Administer therapy treatments to patients using hands or physical treatment aids.

Maintain treatment records.

Maintain medical records.

Assess clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.

Assess physical conditions of patients to aid in diagnosis or treatment.

Treat clients in professional settings or travel to clients' offices and homes.

Provide clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement and stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitative exercises.

Teach medical procedures or medical equipment use to patients.

Develop and propose client treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used.
Supportive Job Functions:

Work with flexibility during high volume periods and cover shifts when necessary within the department.

Communicate all information related to the property to the Spa and/or Hotel Manager in a timely manner.

Be available and able to give local direction to guests.

Be available and able to give out general hotel knowledge to guest.

Work with the Spa and/or Hotel Manager to ensure compliance in all safety related matters.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Holds valid license issued by the Virgin Islands

Preferred 2 year of experience

Preferred training or certification from massage therapy school
-
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include weekends, morning, mid and possibly even night shifts.

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Must have good customer service skills
-
Must be detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills.

Attends and participates in continuing education and training in order to follow new trends and techniques.

Thorough knowledge of massage techniques, skin care products and related procedures.

Work with minimal supervision.

Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
-
Work well under pressure of organizing and attaining production schedules and timeliness.

Follow directions thoroughly.

Share ideas.

Physical Requirements:
-
Light work standing and walking frequently for up to entire work shift.
-
Lifting up to 10 pounds consistently, up to 75 or more pounds occasionally.

Able to reach, lift, carry, push, pull, grasp, manipulate or otherwise move objects.

Frequent bending, squatting, twisting and turning.
-
As a seasonal property, long hours during peak periods sometimes required.
