The Fred Hotel Valet Attendant Job Description

Position Summary

The Valet Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services to guests in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner. The Valet Attendant is responsible for parking and retrieving guest vehicles in a prompt yet safe manner and assisting guests with luggage, including delivery and pick up of guest luggage (where applicable) during arrival and departure

Essential Job Functions

  • Park and retrieve cars

  • Greet customers

  • Collect fees

  • Manage the valet station and associated work areas

  • Organize vehicles

  • Manage parking area (barricades, directing traffic, etc.)

  • Protect cars

  • Basic car servicing (change tire if needed, jump a car)

  • Wear a uniform

  • Groomed appropriately

  • Hand out Claim Tickets

  • Manage Keys

  • Do basic math without use of a calculator

 

Supportive Job Functions:

  • Work with flexibility during high volume periods and cover shifts when necessary within the department.

  • Be available and able to give local direction to guests.

  • Be available and able to give out general hotel knowledge to guest.

  • Be available to assist in taking guest luggage to rooms as needed.

  • Work with the General Manager to ensure compliance in all safety related matters.

  •  Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include weekends, morning, mid and night shifts. 

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

  • Must have good customer service skills

  • Must be detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills.

  • Be able to maintain a clean and functional work space.

  • Ability to multi task and remain calm in a high-volume environment. 

  • Work with minimal supervision.

  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

  • Work well under pressure of organizing and attaining production schedules and timeliness.

  • Follow directions thoroughly.

  •  Share ideas. 

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); OR one to three months related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to operate a manual transmission is highly desirable

  • Perform parallel parking

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • For insurance purposes, must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a criminal background and drug screen

  • If providing shuttle services, may be subject to additional requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work standing and walking frequently for up to entire work shift.

  • Lifting up to 10 pounds consistently, up to 75 or more pounds occasionally.

  • Able to reach, lift, carry, push, pull, grasp, manipulate or otherwise move objects.

  • Frequent bending, squatting, twisting and turning.

  • As a seasonal property, long hours during peak periods sometimes required.
